[0:03:08]: This Week in Esports

Special shoutout to GrandHarrier (https://www.twitch.tv/grandharrier/) , who hosts Duel Links Grand Prix!

[0:10:14] Duel Links Meta Power Rankings

  • Tier 1: Odd-Eyes (30.5), Trickstar (27.0)
  • Tier 2: Speedroid (17.5),
  • Tier 3: Destiny HERO (14.5), Orcust (13.0), Rokket (12.0), Gandora (7.0), Ursarctic (6.5)
  • Off List: Resonators

[0:10:50] Turbo Duel Grand Prix

  • Rampaging Smashtank Rhynosaber: While this generic level 7 Synchro monster needs to overcome a lot to see play, it really isn’t that bad. You can discard cards to trigger GY effects and buff this card by a good amount. This really excels in the battle phase, being able to resummon the materials out of the GY in attack, being able to attack again. While you need to overcome back row and other protections, this could be useful in the right deck.
  • X-Saber Pashuul: This is basically a battle immune stall card that costs you 500 LP per turn. A level 2 tuner as well. Not sure if this specifically has to see play for X-Saber, but I can see this being useful occasionally as a tuner.

[0:13:50] Selection BOX Mini Vol.05

  • Lost Wind (Limit 3): This is a trap form of Forbidden Droplet, and it is quite good. You basically get to use each Lost Wind twice, as special summons from the Extra Deck is the most meta way to play Duel Links. Consider this a core back row card moving forward, hence sharing the Limit 3 banlist. This might creep over Forbidden Chalice as well.
  • Photon Sanctuary: Photon is an Xyz deck, so this is quite good for it. You see this card see play in the highest level of Galaxy Eyes and Photon decks, so it is a core piece for that deck. While we saw a meta version of Galaxy just run a couple of monsters, this should bring back a more monster heavy version of the deck that runs level 4 monsters. Starliege Lord Galaxion is back on the menu.
  • Evilswarm Exciton Knight: Speaking of Rank 4 Xyz Light monsters, this one has a place in Galaxy as well now. This is another form of Evilswarm Roach, having a quick effect that is an extremely strong control ability, being able to nuke your opponent’s board. This will force an immediate hard removal from your opponent, and one to watch moving forward. This should be considered one of the best Rank 4 Xyz in the game so far.
  • Infinitrack Brutal Dozer: Brutal Dozer is the last piece for Infinitrack and is a good one, being able to special summon another Infinitrack from the deck. Notably the monster that comes out will have its effects negated, so the Trencher is probably the best one to get from the deck. This should lead River Stormer to see more play, meaning more card advantage.
  • Pendulum Treasure: This seems more like a complimentary effect than one that deserves its own card slot in a deck. I’m sure this has some niche uses, but doesn’t seem worthy of a deck slot.
  • Court of Cards: The Poker Knights are a combo deck, and this can help that niche deck have a fun win.

[0:24:01] Structure Deck EX: Spirit Charmers

  • Grand Spiritual Art – Ichirin: A fine field spell for the Charmers or really any Spellcaster that has 1500 DEF. This is specifically used to tutor the Charmer companion monsters though.
  • Possessed Partnerships: Basically a control trap that lets you summon additional Charmers from the deck. A fine value card if you can get the situational effects off.
  • Spirit Charmers: This is a card that lets you get 2 cards from the deck, play one and add the other to the hand. This is complimentary of all cards from this archetype, so it should be a core card.
  • Unpossessed: A battle protection trap for Charmers and helps buff the Familiar-Possessed.
  • Ranryu: The last Familiar-Possessed that was not released 2 years prior. This seems the same as Jigabyte.

[0:30:30] Forbidden/Limited List Updates (Aug 24)

Limited 1

  • Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon: This nerf simply prevents the Raging Pendulum deck from playing any Limited 1 cards. It doesn’t seem that any of these cards were core for the deck at all, but more of a provision. Maybe there were some Orcust versions floating around, so Orcustrated Babel and Orcustrated Release are two cards that share Limited 1.

Limited 2

  • Mekk-Knight Blue Sky: We have 3 cards on Limit 2 now, with Orcust Knightmare and Indigo Eclipse. Orcust seems to be hit in every banlist, so we’ll see if the deck sees any play moving forward. The combo versions seem to most affected.
  • Speedroid Fuki-Modoshi Piper: This joins the Limited 2 list with Double Yoyo. This shouldn’t be back breaking, but it hurts the deck consistency.
  • Farfa, Malabranche of the Burning Abyss: The ongoing saga of Farfa continues.
  • Orcust Knightmare: This was a very core piece for Orcust, literally run in every deck.
  • Mekk-Knight Indigo Eclipse: This card was usually a one-of, as with the other Mekk-Knights.

Limited 3

  • Orcust Harp Horror: Shares the list with Scrap Recycler now. Limited 3 is also a spot with some good back row cards, so that hurts those cards. But this card is usually good enough to see play.
  • Dark Contract with the Gate: A consistency hit, as it now shares the Limited 3 with Swirl Slime.
  • Transmodify: This was a combo card with Infernity, now being relaxed a little.
  • Ritual Beast Tamer Elder: Ritual Beasts are getting relaxed quite a bit.
