2. News

– [0:04:44]: This Week in Esports

DLM MCS 39

  • 1st – Negative1 w/ Balance Noble Knights: 3x Book of the Moon and 2x TTH are the highlights of this deck, and this player has been known to stray away from discard traps. Brothers over Pellinore here.
  • 2nd – Masarike w/ Master of Destiny Desperado: Jirai Gumo is the latest coin flipper to get involved, as the deck still manages to do very well.
  • Top 4 – RegTrainer1 w/ Ultimate Dragons BEWD: Nothing particularly notable here.
  • Top 4 – Luke Tyler w/ Territory of the Sharks Water: The Water Xyz deck is finally on the map here. Mermaid Shark is a fine substitute if you don’t have 3x Silent Angler.

DLM Weekly #163

  • 1st – buns w/ Onomatoplay Onamatopoeia: The deck has really reached some semblance of meta competitiveness after the last box released some cards. The game play does remain the same though, with the hard removal, aggro approach.
  • 2nd – BlackSnake w/ Master of Destiny Desperado: This deck drops BM-4 Blast Spider in favor for Sasuke Samurai #4. 2x Ally of Justice Quarantine seems to be necessary now.
  • Top 4 – Juliano w/ See You Later! Shiranui: The deck isn’t meta again, but it seems to have more trap cards than ever before. No copies of Squire or her Synchro form in any way, or Spiritmaster.
  • Top 4 – neo w/ FIRE Reload Invoked Neos: Typical package with 3x Winda and 3x Volcanic Shells.

Battle Phase Prime #3

  • 1st – VodkaForFree w/ Master of Destiny Desperado: Nothing too out of the ordinary now, but we can assume Desperado don’t need BM-4 Blast Spider in the interim, and run 2x Quarantine.
  • 2nd – Hawks w/ Level Duplication Thunder Dragon: Just a regular Chaos Thunder Dragon deck.
  • Top 4 – Rich Ferente w/ Onomatoplay Onamatopoeia: Not much to add from the previous deck from buns.
  • Top 4 – itachi w/ Master of Destiny Desperado: You’re getting some creative choices with Jirai Gumo being thrown into the mix as another coin flipper.

Memaker Cup #10

  • 1st – 9mung w/ Territory of the Sharks Water: The Water Xyz deck has been in place, but thrust into the spotlight with the discounted Selection Box, which includes Deep Sea Diva and Atlantean Heavy Infantry. We’ve got the core cards in the deck here, as they focus on 2 specific Xyz, Abyss Dweller and Number 37. Because Deep Sea Diva is a Tuner, the deck has additional Synchro options in the Extra Deck.
  • 2nd – 39 w/ Territory of the Sharks Water: Many versions of the deck do run Necrovalley, or some other binding tech card. This version runs many typical back row you see from this deck.
  • Top 4 – Cyan Pile w/ See You Later! Star Seraph Yosenju: This deck only runs Kama 1, Kama 2 and Izma. You’ve got a little bit of the Star Seraph package, some stall cards, and of course the core trap.
  • Top 4 – Superdarko w/ Balance Magnet Warriors: 30-card Magnets.

– [0:14:01]: Duel Links Meta Power Rankings

  • Tier 1: Blue-Eyes (16.3), Thunder Dragons (14.6), Desperado (13.2), Noble Knights (12.9)
  • Tier 2: Onomat (9.1), Water Xyz (5.0)
  • Tier 3: Blackwings (4.1)
  • Off: Invoked Neos (-)

– [0:16:12]: Discounted Boxes

  • 1st Main BOX – 17th Mini BOX – 50% cost in gems!

– [0:18:43]: KC Cup

  • New Hidden Duelist Rule
  • Water Xyz Deck
  • Orbital 7: This card falls into the weird “character card” category, but that is besides the point. This is a utility card for the Photon archetype, without being a Photon itself. This card has a clunky flip effect to become 2000 attack, and be eligible for the Galaxy Eyes Photon Dragon special summon. This card has a secondary use to be tributed to recycle any Galaxy or Photon card. Seems useful for the Photon archetype, and it is a little unusual this card is given out with RNG.

– [0:27:56]: Tour Guide Bingo

  • Starship Spy Plane: Actually not that bad! With Xyz becoming a part of the meta, this can be a free special summon, with a bounce on a back row or Necrovalley. This card could actually force the back row to be activated on this card, which isn’t the worst thing at all, as it just uses the special summon. This card looks decent for generic Rank 4 Xyz decks, and is something that can just be considered when you’re trying to patch up a deck without full copies of certain cards.

– [0:30:20]: Card Flipper Campaign

  • Guerilla Kite: The 250 burn is fairly negligible at this point, though you can conceive of this card being resurrected or recycled for continued burn. This is a Tuner and Fire attribute, both things that make it useful in some way.

– [0:32:02]: Ranked Duels

  • Satellite Laser Balsam (UR): This has the upside of being a 3000 with piercing, without having the attack, which can be manipulated by monsters who steal or attach it. This is definitely not worth it to fuse 3 Satellite Cannons for just this, but could be an option for decks that can find ways to cheat out Fusion monsters on the fly. But even then, there are likely better options.
  • Satellite Cannon (SR): This card can stall a little against BEWD, but with all the Alternative Dragons being part of the deck, along with removal traps, one can’t expect this to be on the board for very long. This is also a 1-tribute monster, but could be cheated onto the board with a floater like Shining Angel.
