– [0:04:03]: This Week in Esports

Next Generation World Tournament #5

  • 1st – Monkey D. Willy w/ Clock of Destiny Destiny HERO: Lightning Vortex is only a side deck card here, favoring Karma Cut, here, which is a preference thing.
  • 2nd – Chain w/ Destiny Draw Abyss Actor: Not your regular Abyss Actor deck, as there is a little package with 2x Sky Iris, 1x Performapal Odd-Eyes Unicorn, 1x Odd-Eyes Arc Pendulum Dragon, and 1x Aether, the Evil Empowering Dragon for good measure.
  • Top 4 – koman w/ Master of Rites II Revendread: Nothing has changed from this deck from the 1.5 years since release, but here it is.
  • Top 4 – gialucagian w/ Territory of the Sharks Water Xyz: Finally one with a little bit of spice. Armed Sea Hunter is a Sea Serpent you see rarely in the deck, but has an infinite effect negation effect on enemy monsters. Monster Reborn splashed in is a common thing, but makes a top 4. Finally World Legacy Clash, and Necrovalley.

DLM Weekly #210

  • 1st – trentwik w/ Light Barrier Noble Knights: Basically Noble Knights with Abyss Dweller and Heroic Champion – Excalibur. This comes in at 29 cards, which is a little bit odd itself. 3x Arfedeutyr makes this seem like a real control version.
  • 2nd – Egg w/ Mind Scan Harpies: Just a lean 20-carder here, instead of the fat decks we’ve seen of this ilk. As we’ve seen, there are more control trap elements.
  • Top 4 – Jetski w/ Mind Scan Harpies: Here’s the 30-card monstrosity with Magical Hats and Hysteric Sign combo.
  • Top 4 – tomi w/ Territory of the Sharks Water Xyz: Nothing notable in this Water Xyz deck.

– [0:10:52] Duel Links Meta Power Rankings

  • Tier 1:
  • Tier 2: Water Xyz (13.6), Abyss Actors (10.6), Magnet Warrior (9.9), Harpies (9.8)
  • Tier 3: Melodious (6.2), Gaia (5.7), T.G.(4.5), Destiny HERO (4.1)
  • Off List:

– [0:12:18] 5th Anniversary Campaign

  • Monster Reborn
  • 1000 Gems
  • Skill Ticket
  • Dream Tickets
  • Card Tickets
  • 50% gem sale up until Valhalla CallingDestiny Draw: Monster Reborn: So you hav
  • e to include Monster Reborn, and this activates if you’ve lost 1500 LP. This is a little better with your opponent having a 3000 attacker, as it allows you to make a come back with the Destiny Draw.
  • Master of Fusion: Paladin: Pretty much an all-time bad skill. So you return a card, and get a free Buster Blader from outside the deck, and set Polymerization (from an unknown source). You can then pretty much only Fusion Summon Dark Paladin. You are locked out of special summons during your opponent’s turn, and you cannot run cards more than 1-of, outside of Dark Spellcasters. Basically the consistency of your deck is completely shot just to run this skill. Not good.

– [0:17:31] Tag Duel Tournament

  • Red Carpet: This is basically a late game play so you can do some Accel Synchro summoning to upgrade your Red Dragon Archfiend to more powerful forms. As such, you won’t want to load your deck with tons of this card, but it is a decent recovery.
  • Comics Hero King Arthur: This card is interesting but comes with limited use. Pretty much immune to battle destruction 2x, in turn buffing this monster by 500, and inflicting a little burn. I can see some situations where this monster is used, especially if you can equip Noble Arms on it. But in general, this card doesn’t have protections outside of battles, making it less playable as general use.

– [0:21:28] Selection BOX Vol.05

  • Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning: This is pretty much another form of Chaos Dragon Levianeer, having the same type of GY banish summon for removal. For one less monster GY banish, you’ll get a monster banish, instead of popping 2 cards. Given the limiting of Chaos Dragon Levianeer, this looks even better. Obviously a fit for BLS decks, but most Chaos strategies as well.
  • Apprentice Illusion Magician: Seems like a new core card for Dark Magician. Simply discard a card, special summon this, and tutor Dark Magician. This can also act as a hand trap to give a 2000/2000 buff to other Dark Spellcasters, which is fairly hard to play around. Value town!
  • True King Agnimazud, the Vanisher: This card has synergy with Fire King cards for example, that like being destroyed for an effect going off. This will then hit  the board and banish an opponent monster on field or GY, so that’s cool. When destroyed by card effect, you can tutor another Wyrm. This fits like a Yubel/Fire King card, but not sure where the Wyrms fit in.
  • Bottomless Trap Hole: Floodgate Trap Hole has value in clogging the opponent’s board, so that will always have a place. This is straight-up destroy, and banish. This is basically a more usable form of Network Trap Hole, as this can include monsters summoned from the hand, which should be most monsters. This could be a control staple, and just a good back row to have.
  • Majester Paladin, the Ascending Dracoslayer: I’m not really sure what the point is of Dracoslayers, but this can special summon a Dracoslayer Pendulum Monster, which is basically 1 card. This card doesn’t have great stats for a Rank 4 Xyz Summon, and not that useful an ability.
  • Coach King Giantrainer: This card basically just generates card advantage, for 400 burn, and not having your Battle Phase. I don’t think this is a great strategy, and one that is generally slow in the world of Speed Duels.
  • Daigusto Phoenix: I’m sure there’s some nifty OTK combo you could do here with a Wind monster, but you’ll need to set up some Level 2 shenanigans. Won’t work with Harpies.
  • Ignister Prominence, the Blasting Dracoslayer: This Dracoslayer actually has some useful abilities, being able to destroy a Pendulum Monster or Pendulum Zone card, destroy it, and shuffle another card on field into the deck. This could be used against an opponent Pendulum deck to remove 2 cards, so this is something consider when Pendulums get more meta. Adding a tuner to the right Pendulum deck to add up to 8 will be key.
  • Infernity Doom Archfiend: This card is bonkers. As a generic Level 6 Synchro, this can negate a face-up card, and destroy it when handless. This inflicts double battle damage on monsters when handless. Finally, some accel synchro you do using this card will give that monster 2 attacks. Infernity decks have new life.
  • D/D/D Destiny King Zero Laplace: This card seems kinda OP. With the cost of a D/D/D monster, this card will always have double attack of an opponent’s monster. It also does piercing. It has 2 lives for battle destruction. It is vulnerable to defense shift with 0 defense, but still takes 2 hits to destroy. The Pendulum Effect can help you load up for a bigger Pendulum Summon turn, but this has a scale of 1, which is good.
  • Coach Captain Bearman: Basically a Level 8 modulator, for a Rank 8 Xyz Summon. This really is only for the Coach King Giantrainer.
  • Pendulum Reborn: Trap form of Monster Reborn, flexible for Pendulums in the Extra Deck or GY. Probably not that useful!

– [0:39:02] Structure Deck EX: Sword of Paladin

  • Strength in Unity: Blue-Eyes have various threats coming from the Extra Deck, fusions included thanks to the Ultimate Dragons skill. Dark Magician decks don’t really go with Fusion or Ritual Summoning, so it would be more situational for them. Plus, they have a better version of this card in Dark Magic Circle. So yeah, this would just be a play for Ultimate Dragons BEWD, if even, given the situational usage.
  • Destined Rivals: Actually useful for both archetypes, as effect negation is quite the strong effect to have. This is situational on having the archetypal monster on the field. Another consequence is while this hits the entire board of enemy monster effects, really this should just be used on the first played monster. It will take skill to know how to end the opponent turn to activate this card. But then again, you might as well just run Forbidden Chalice or Skill Breakthrough.
  • Ebon High Magician: Bonkers. This on Turn 1 could essentially end the game on your opponent, as you can activate quick plays and traps from the hand during their turn. All of the Book of Moon, MST, and more! This even has a great recovery effect, when destroyed by card effect, you can float out a Dark Magician, and destroy another card.
  • Apprentice Magician: You’re playing with Spell Counters, which isn’t a real strategie outside of the Arcanite Magician popping spells/traps.
