DLM Meta Weekly #226

  • 1st – Juninho w/ Xiangke and Xiangsheng Odd-Eyes: New meta deck here. This skill is an upgrade over the regular Pendulum Scale decks, as you basically get to cheat out 2 monsters from the deck to become the Pendulum Scales. You do get handicapped a little, as the Xiangke is forced to become a Scale of 8 to match the Xiangsheng, rendering pendulum summoning useless. But with Sky Iris, you can destroy one of the scales to make pendulum summoning possible.
  • 2nd – Obada w/ Command of the Doom King D/D/D: New additions like D/D/D Oblivion King Abyss Ragnarok, D/D Dog, and D/D Savant Thomas have bolstered this deck. This particular build makes work of generic Rank 8 Xyz, notably Coach King Giantrainer and Zombiestein.
  • Top 4 – coolstar w/ Xiangke and Xiangsheng Odd-Eyes: This decklist will continue to change components over time. this one finds a spot for Nobledragon Magician.
  • Top 4 – Shelmy w/ Mind Scan Deskbots: Deskbots gonna deskbot.

– [0:10:44] Duelist Kingdom

  • Obsessive Uvualoop: Interesting card at least, being able to cheat out with just a Synchro on the field or GY. The Level 4 Fiend/Tuner typing probably is something useful as well.
  • Sweet Corn: A token generator that makes Level 1 monsters for 500 LP. Doesn’t seem very playable unfortunately.

– [0:13:50] Forbidden/Limited List Update (May 12th)

Limited 1

  • Gandora the Dragon of Destruction: Monster Reborn is a very strong card, so this Limit 1 will function in banning that from Gandora. A solid balance change before the Gandora deck got completely OP.
  • Tour Guide From the Underworld: Well the Tour Guide is finally playable as Limited 1 only. She automatically slots into Burning Abyss decks, as you can cheat out a fellow Level 3 monster from the deck, for a Rank 3 Xyz Summon. She cannot be used for the Level 6 Synchro for Virgil though. She’ll also probably see play in any deck that likes Rank 3 Xyz Summoning.

Limited 2

  • The Phantom Knights of Ragged Gloves: Every Phantom Knight deck ran 3 of these, so this limits that consistency, and takes out all the Limited 2 cards. E-Con and TTH were commonly played in Phantom Knights, so this is the biggest nerf to the deck.
  • Rainbow Life: This and Hallowed Life Barrier are both being put in Limited 2 to stall stall decks.
  • Hallowed Life Barrier: This and Rainbow Life are both being put in Limited 2 to stall stall decks.
  • Megaroid City: I guess this goes with the stall hurt above, but this is even more so. This limits the consistency of the Kiteroid engine, so you could just run 1x Megaroid City and 1x Kiteroid. Wightprincess did not get touched with this limit list though, so there are newer options.
  • Nekroz of Valkyrus: Konami noted this card being put on with Kiteroid as Limited 2. I feel this wasn’t abused a ton in the game, but could make for a stally experience against Nekroz decks.

Limited 3

  • Spiritual Beast Tamer Winda: Winda finally gets a Limit 3. This will cut into the FGTH or Battlin’ Boxer Veil you can run into Ritual Beast, which hurts the deck a little, since they stall a bit.
  • The Phantom Knights of Silents Boots: This basically eliminates Cosmic Cyclone from Phantom Knights, back to MST it is.

Unlimited

  • Shiranui Sunsaga: Unlike other decks that have been nerfed into oblivion, you do see Shiranui now and then.

– [0:19:38] Skill Changes (May 13-16)

  • Memories of a Pharaoh: Obelisk the Tormentor: The activation gets ramped up from “Turn 5 and onward” to “Turn 3 and onward,” which is still a 1 turn delay for the first player. You will need to run 3x Blue-Eyes, which means cards that special summon BEWD right away will need to see play for the Obelisk consistency.
  • Summoning Crest: A somewhat big boost to this skill, as it becomes an automatic tutor for Orgoth, plus the bonus effect. In return you have an increased chance of sending a card back to the deck to negate the card advantage gain, but it is a small change in that chance.
  • Gimmick Puppet – Replacement: No real change to this skill. The only change is a deckbuilding requirement to have at least 1 monster in the deck, instead of none. This is all moot, as the skill only works if you have monsters that up to level 8.

– [0:22:47] Sora Perse Level-Up Cards

  • Fluffal Owl: This is a solid card for any deck that runs Polymerization. This also lets you fuse without a monster when doing a Frightfur fusion. Just a really solid card for this archetype and any fusion deck.
  • Edge Imp Sabres: This is a specific fusion material for Frightfur Bear and Wolf, and an optional one for the others. Like other cards involved, this works well being disposed to the GY, being able to come back from the GY at a cost of one card. This is definitely not amazing, but it can’t be too good a card.
  • Frightfur Bear: In terms of use, this is probably something to eat up opponent monsters you don’t want in the GY, such as The White Stone of Ancients.
  • Toy Vendor: Another solid part of the archetype, helping you run through your deck quickly. You can special summon the Fluffals, while disposing Edge Imps, works well for both types of monsters. This is a card you don’t have to run a lot of, as there is internal synergy with Fluffal Bear.

– [0:27:25] Sora Perse Duel Skills

  • Bear Parade: The main benefit is taking out a monster from the opponent’s GY, but that is something you can do with the monster itself, or with any number of tech cards. This skill’s weakness is the situational fact it only works with the Frightfur Bear and nothing else. Win-more skill.
  • Creatures of Calamity: This skill could be useful in populating the GY for Frightfur Chimera, but doesn’t exactly help with Edge Imp cards, which are the cards you want disposed of in such a situation.
  • Factory Operation!: This gives you a Frightfur Factory, which basically lets you recycle fusion spells. This has an extremely late game requirement though, needing 3 fusion monsters in the GY.
  • Fusion Restock: An okay and fair skill. With Fluffal Owl, you can tutor Polymerization right away. Again the win-more nature makes it more bad than good, but an okay skill.
  • The Most Unbearable Monster: Just your f2p skill that gives you 1 of 5 random cards that are useful for Frightfur.
  • Try To Counter My Moves: Just something for an OTK, but I’ve seen better skills.
