- Burden of the Mighty: Not a particularly useful card, but one that doesn’t have really a negative effect. You debuff enemy monsters based on level, and this is something a bit outdated given Xyz and Link monsters are unaffected. Maybe you can combine it with a card that destroys things when they don’t have their original stats, but only an old style beatdown card.
– [0:23:04] Forbidden/Limited List Update (April 27)
Limited 1
- Knightmare Mermaid: Limited 1 is now quite the crowded list with a lot of powerful general use cards like Monster Reborn, Enemy Controller, among other things in it. This limit on Knightmare Mermaid can target Salamangreats with Gazelle, and Mekk-Knight with World Legacy’s Secret being Limited 1 as well. This is what you would expect of a strong free card such as this.
- Ravenous Crocodragon Archethys: We’ve seen some strong synchro play in the KC Cup, with this Mekk-Knight Synchron deck, and this was one of the beneficiaries. Now it is banished to decks that can afford a Limit 1.
- Tatsunoko: Similarly utilized in the Mekk-Knight Synchron deck, this card literally saw no play before this KC Cup.
- Cynet Crosswipe: No flash in the pan here, Cynet Crosswipe was a staple in Code Talker and other Cyberse related decks.
- Transmodify: Listed as a precautionary measure, this last saw play in Infernity, and some decks before that.
Limited 2
- Scrap-Iron Scarecrow: This card didn’t really warrant meta play at all, and wasn’t really played.
- Void Feast: Infernoid is hit again, now Void Vanishment and Void Feast are on the same Limited list. This is a big limitation, and so they have to focus on milling, or some defensive measure.
Limited 3
- Mekk-Knight Purple Nightfall: Mekk-Knight showed up in big numbers, but this could be it. We now have another Limited 3 to go along with Blue Sky and World Legacy’s Memories.
- Jet Synchron: Synchron decks made enough of a mark in the KC Cup to get hit on this list. This is more to go with Tuning in the same limited list, but hurts the variant that runs Mekk-Knight even more.
- D/D Savant Kepler: This is more of an easement, as Dark Contract with the Gate becomes unlimited. Kepler and Swirl Slime now occupy Limited 3.
- Knightmare Corruptor Iblee: Another Mekk-Knight Limited 3 to join the ones mentioned above.
- Lady Debug: This is a consistency nerf on Salamangreat, forcing Lady Debug to share a limited 3 with Salamangreast Circle, as the deck was not occupied with a Limited 2.
- Tuning: Again meant to hurt the rise of the Synchron deck.
