[0:03:16]: This Week in Esports

Special shoutout to GrandHarrier (https://www.twitch.tv/grandharrier/) , who hosts Duel Links Grand Prix!

[0:09:55] Duel Links Meta Power Rankings

  • Tier 1: Black Luster Soldier (35.0)
  • Tier 2: Tenyi (16.5)
  • Tier 3: Rokket (14.5), Odd-Eyes (12.5), Infinitrack (12.5), Trickstar (12.5), Gandora (7.0), Live Twin (6.5), Ursarctic (6.0), Salamangreat (6.0)
  • Off List: Madolche, D/D/D, Toons

[0:10:34] Dive In! Treasure Hunter Ghost Gal

  • Altergeist Hexstia: This is sorta the boss monster available for Altergeist, if there is such a thing. This gains attack to arrows it points to, so the positioning matters a lot for this deck. This comes with strong abilities to negate and destroy and spell/trap or card effect, which is the highlight of this card. This can be a big beater and negate and destroy, a winning combo!
  • Altergeist Manifestation: Call of the Haunted basically. This has an additional GY effect to help recycle another trap.

[0:14:08] Ghost Gal Level-Up Rewards

  • Altergeist Fijialert: The main appeal of this card is to allow you to play other Link monsters and consider them as an Altergeist for 1 turn. It also provides another special summon I guess? I don’t think this would be too useful, as the support for monsters outside the archetype could be anti-synergy.
  • Altergeist Multifaker: Really good card that we just have 2 of. Activate a trap, special summon this from the hand, and special summon another monster from the deck! This can get your traps going and a Link Summon pretty easy.
  • Altergeist Failover: This is like an Unchained card, but has no effect if it is not destroyed. Once destroyed, it has some nice effects. But Cosmic Cyclone renders this card useless entirely. The fact that Altergeist warrants removal plays into this card being useful, but a the same time, we have so many traps in the game already.
  • Altergeist Kunquery: Really good card! This combines elements of Negate Attack and Warning Point basically.

[0:21:52] Ghost Gal Duel Skills

  • Altergeist Booster: Not a great skill, as we only have 2 Altergeist traps at the moment. I don’t think this deck specializes in hitting over things anyways, so it doesn’t play to the strengths of the deck.
  • Altergeist Preparations: Basically a 1000 LP draw sense Altergeist trap card. If we get better traps, maybe this will be better.
  • Altergeist Trade: This makes Altergeist Failover exchangeable for a monster I guess. The trap isn’t great, but the ability to get a monster is useful.
  • Ghosts in Cyberspace: F2p skill for Altergeist Primebanshee. No spell cards allowed, but you get to move your monsters around for better positioning.
  • Personal Spoofing: This skill gives you access to a Personal Spoofing outside the deck, which basically lets you run 2, if you choose to use it as your Limited 1 card. Spoofing is a powerful combat trick and card advantage card, but not considered in the archetype with no name, because it is quite good.
  • Secret Cure: This is an interesting skill, as you can keep excavating cards until you have a monster, which defeats the LP loss draw back of the draw sense skills we saw earlier. Increasing LP on both sides is inconsequential, as Altergeists can grind your opponent down via control. This could be the go-to skill for Altergeists.

[0:28:11] New Speed Main BOX, Deep Emotion

URs

  • Paleozoic Dinomischus: Believe it or not there are still some more Paleozoic traps and even monsters unreleased. But this is basically Karma Cut on a Paleozoic. The discard effect is a cost, but this archetype is fine with discarding. This is removal no matter how you slice it, and can even banish back row. This should afford this card some play in some deck, though we have some very good traps now. Not having a Limited 3 restriction does help this.
  • Magikey World: This does a lot for a field spell, you tutor a monster, and a fusion spell, and affords battle/effect protection for your monsters. I would say this is a staple card for Magikeys.
  • Live Twin Ki-sikil: Live Twin/Evil Twin is a powerful archetype that isn’t quite here yet from this box. Summon Ki-sikil to special summon Lil-la, and go into Link-2 to continue your plays. This is quite expensive as a box UR, for a staple card you’ll want a bunch of. We don’t even have the other monsters that go into this archetype, so you’ll need to run 3 of these probably.
  • Live Twin Lil-la: Same thing as Ki-sikil but a Dark attribute. There isn’t anything different at the moment for this archetype that isn’t fully formed.
  • Effect Veiler: Clearly the chase card of the set, which will see play for a while to come. This comes as an unlimited card, which will make it replace cards that could be repetitive in the Limited 3 slot. This is going to be seen a lot, making Debunk possibly come into play to combat this hand trap.
  • Blue-Eyes Abyss Dragon: This gives Blue-Eyes synergy with Ritual and Polymerization. The Ritual comes into prominence, given the inclusion of Blue-Eyes Chaos Max in Duel Links.
  • Altergeist Primebanshee: This allows your Altergeists to potentially dodge targeting effects, by tributing the monster and summoning a monster from the deck in its place. This has an additional recovery effect when it is sent to the GY. Given this is the only Link-3 we get with this archetype, it serves a purpose.
  • Altergeist Meluseek: A weak direct attacker, but it has a control ability to send an opponent card to the GY. This archetype isn’t strong with stats, but works in annoying ways like this.
  • Mind Control: The goal is to use this card as a material for Link Summoning most likely, as Synchro and Xyz summoning are too situational for all decks. This doesn’t see a ton of play, but could have niche usage.

SRs

  • Magnificent Magikey Mafteal: This archetype can do all kinds of special summoning from the Extra Deck, which is always cool. This tuner does it all, being able to add another Normal Summon, and special summoning stuff out of the GY.
  • World Gears of Theurlogical Demiurgy: This is a big beater Link-3, who can kinda clear the field, if you can pull off a special Link summon with a bunch of different monsters.
  • Clavkiys, the Magikey Skyblaster: Just a vanilla monster with very good stats. This works with Mafteal to do all the special summoning you need.
  • Evil Twin Lil-la: You’re going to have the Evil Twins flying around and what you do depends on need. You get Evil Twin Ki-sikil first and then do Evil Twin Lil-la to pop a card on the board. You do Evil Twin Lil-la first and then do Evil Twin Ki-sikil if you want to draw a card. The goal is to do this to get into Link-4 monsters. In the complete version these monsters can attack before or after the Link-4 summon.
  • Evil Twin Ki-sikil: The light attribute Fiend, the skill comes with sequencing these 2 on the board based on game need.
  • Elemental HERO Neos Kluger: The unholy fusion of Neos and Yubel! You normally won’t run Yubel in HERO at all unless you wanted this card. This card just battles and burns as a bonus. Even the Neos Wiseman that goes with this is a better closer, being unable to be destroyed by card effects. Overall, this probably isn’t worth combining HERO and Yubel just for this card.
  • Cyberse Clock Dragon: This card does a lot of stuff, sending your own cards to the GY to buff this card a bunch. There’s tricky stuff with Link monster protection and this card.
  • Clock Wyvern: This card exists to make 2 monsters to Link-2 real fast, into Clock Spartoi, for example. This is flexible enough to see play in general Cyberse link decks as well.
  • Altergeist Silquitous: This is a main worker for this deck, being able to quick effect bounce your card and then your opponent’s. This card will ultimately get destroyed, which will let you recycle your traps. This does a lot of work.
  • Radian, the Multidimensional Kaiju: More Kaijus for monster removal.
  • Knightmare Cerberus: Another core Extra deck monster.

[0:50:49] Deep Emotion Bundle

  • Evil Twins Ki-sikil & Lil-la: While we don’t have the Link-4 archetype monster, this becomes a bit more like a boss monster. Tribute your 2 Link monsters to get this card, which can send a few of your opponents cards to the GY. Better to be this effect, which is non-targeting, and non-destroying. This card will also become a 4400 beater.

[0:54:00] Duel Capsule

  • Knightmare Incarnation Idlee: This is an interesting card, one that could turn the tides against link heavy decks. Having a total Link Rating over 8 or more is a lot at the moment in Duel Links, so this will only get better as bigger links are played. This quick effect and send all Link Monsters to the GY is almost like Nibiru the Primal Being, but not fully roided up. This card has much potential in the game eventually.
