2. News

– [0:02:36]: This Week in Esports

KC Cup Feb 2022

  • 1st – “Uzumaki” w/ Sealed Tombs Abyss Actors: Pure Abyss Actors, which is virtually unseen, and this deck primarily focuses on Rank 4 Xyz Summoning.
  • 2nd – “Spirit Messenger” w/ Destiny Draw Ritual Beast: Ritual Beast in Duel Links in all it’s forms through time will basically do the same stuff. This one has all the core cards with some emphasis on control in flipping things face down with 3x Book of Moon and 3x Floodgate.
  • 3rd – “Hey” w/ Destiny Draw Ritual Beast: Another control heavy deck here.
  • 4th – ACT w/ Destiny Draw Magnet Warrior: The culmination of resurrection Magnet Warrior. Again, a deck with 3x of both flip face down control back row.
  • 5th – “Laugh”
    • Flight Control T.G.: T.G. w/ Monster Reborn?
    • Destiny Draw Ritual Beast: Following the theme of the Ritual Beast hotness.
    • Beatdown Hazy Flame: Hazy Flames never really took off with the release of Basiltrice, but here we have a winner. 3x True King Agnimazud has some synergy with the resurrecting powers of Hazy Flame Sphinx.
  • 7th – IQ36 w/ Destiny Draw Ritual Beast: This deck notably runs 3x Stygian Dirge, which honestly should be run a lot more than is.
  • 8th – RedY w/ Phantom Strategy Phantom Knights: The highest Phantom Knights deck looks like this
  • 9th – “Blue Eyes White Dragon”
    • Grit Witchcrafters: Monster Reborn I guess. This harkens back to the old Witchcrafter Strategy of splashing in good spells.
    • Beatdown Dino Hazy Flame: This is a creative deck, mixing in the revived Hazy Flame hotness with some Dinos in Miscellaneousaurus, Jurrac Aeolo, and Trifortresstops.
    • Phantom Strategy Phantom Knights: Pretty much the same deck run by RedY.
  • 10th – “Asparagus” w/ Beatdown Hazy Flame: The standard build!

DLM Weekly #215

  • 1st – Francesko07 w/ Harpies’ Hunting Ground Harpies: After some time out of the spotlight, this deck is starting to resemble an older, messy decklist.
  • 2nd – Bixie w/ Phantom Strategy Phantom Knights: This is the cookie cutter Phantom Knight deck to run!
  • Top 4 – trentwik w/ Light Barrier Noble Knights: Despite being a 30-card deck, this type of Noble Knights deck tends to be uniform in what they can spare to run.
  • Top 4 – hannsandres w/ Pendulum Gazers Pendulum Magicians: Here we go, a novel deck based off the two free Pendulum Magicians we got to begin Arc-V World.

– [0:12:48] Duel Links Meta Power Rankings

  • Tier 1: Phantom Knights (18.4)
  • Tier 2: Magnet Warrior (13.1), Ritual Beasts (9.1), Harpies (8.3), Water Xyz (8.1)
  • Tier 3: Buster Blader (6.7), Abyss Actors (5.7)
  • Off List: Gaia

– [0:13:53] New Structure Deck EX, Tellarknight Advent

  • Stellarknight Triverr: With a 3 overlay Xyz monster, you are looking for a big effect. This is a bomb unseen since Black Rose Dragon. Returning all the cards to the hand is a different effect, and one that is better against the GY synergies. You can slowly punch out cards in the hand as well, at the costs of your Xyz materials. Even against back row counters, this card will resurrect a monster from the GY when sent to the GY. This requiring tellarknight monsters will prevent widespread play, and despite being so good, it would be hard to carry an entire archetype with an Extra Deck card.
  • Stellarknight Zefraxciton: So here we see the Zefra subarchetype, which makes this card flexible for such strategies. This is just a control card against opponent set cards, and is a Pendulum Scale of 7, and Level 4. With more Zefra cards released, this card should prove more useful.
  • Satellarknight Zefrathuban: This is the counterpart of the card above, controlling opponent face-ups instead. These two cards should work well with tellarknights, and be more useful with more Zefra support.
  • Stellarknight Alpha: This equip is similar to Power of the Guardians, but not as good. Being unaffected by opponent card effects is a very strong effect, one that could let you hit through traps and hand traps. Of course this can get MST’d right away, but this is decent enough to run.

– [0:20:34] Aporia Raid Duels

  • Mektimed Blast: This will always be a 1-for-2, so not great value. But the synergy is very good, as you’ll be special summoning your stronger Meklord Emperor, in doing so. This all depends on the Meklord Emperor being in-hand, and this trap card surviving a turn. So this isn’t an amazing play by any means, but a good thing for this archetype that isn’t competitive.
  • Wisel Top 3: These piece cards aren’t really useful at all. This one you can just throw onto the field to spell-lock your opponent I guess.
  • Heaven, Earth, and People (skill): This skill only works when you’re combining different Meklord Emperors. You’ll need some situation of effect activating to basically tutor a card in the deck in exchange for returning a card. This doesn’t seem all that useful as you’ll likely focus on a single Meklord strategy instead of a few in a clunky deck.

– [0:24:52] Duel Quest

  • Crimson Sentry: This card doesn’t seem all that useful. You’ll need to have sacrificed a monster in battle in some way, like Amazoness Swordswoman. It is mainly hurt by this speed duel format, where you probably won’t draw that monster back again. In exchange, you’ll be losing a monster on the board, and be wide open for attack.
