– [0:03:35]: This Week in Esports

MNC Weekly #101

  • 1st – “Shota” w/ Phantom Strategy Phantom Knights: The one where we show you 3 of the top 4 running the same exact main deck! Chain Disappearance in the side deck shows you a good counter against Phantom Knights.
  • 2nd – “Goes” w/ Phantom Strategy Phantom Knights: Side deck Poisonous Winds are anti-Harpy, which means they still exist in these tournament formats.
  • Top 4 – kirito w/ Phantom Strategy Phantom Knights: Yup, three same decks in a row.
  • Top 4 – MagicMary w/ Destiny Draw Fire King: Here we have 3x True King Agnimazud in Fire Kings, not Hazy Flame. This deck also runs 2 copies of Guerilla Kite, a card that literally has never seen play.

Duel Links Lounge Presents: Millennium Cup #35

  • 1st – Ramon R w/ Clock of Destiny HERO: A fringe meta deck at best now, this deck notably runs Mask HERO Flash.
  • 2nd – Nightmare w/ Destiny Draw Magnet Warrior: This doesn’t go the full 30 cards, a little less at 26.
  • Top 4 – Psicopata w/ Phantom Strategy Phantom Knights: The 1x Kagemucha Knight version, running 3x MST and 3x Book of Moon.
  • Top 4 – Duketo w/ Destiny Draw Magnet Warrior: Again a smaller deck at 25.

  • 25 packs Selection BOX, 12 packs Selection BOX Mini, 5 packs Selection BOX Super Mini

– [0:12:39] The Shadow Memories: Bakura

  • Bark of the Dark Ruler: One of those cards that lets you pay a custom amount of LP to weaken an opponent’s monster in a battle. The Fiend-specific requirement will limit it to play in those decks. This is useful for reducing your LP to trigger a Duel Skill, at the very least, but other cards that remove stuff do that as well. Obviously a very aggressive card, but you’ll need to wait for Fiends to be meta before this card is even considered a possibility to see play.
  • Just Desserts: A pure burn card that will hit the opponent for 750 on a full board of 3 monsters. This could be combined with board-clogging cards like Revival Gift, which is Limited 1, so not great. You’re likely in a losing situation if you need to hit your opponent for 750, and not control the board, but hopefully you’ll have some stall to keep your opponent at bay. Burn stall isn’t played much at all, but a card like this would be a top pick in that current deck.

– [0:17:24] Leaked MiniBOX: Energy of Gigarays

  • Apoqliphort Skybase: The Qliphort archetype does Pendulum Summoning from scales 1-9, so the goal is to special summon 3 monsters, and get this big boss out. Once this monster is on the field, it is unaffected by Spells/Traps, and monster effects of monsters with less than 9 Levels. So basically, this card is indestructible, and worth a spot in this deck. This card has the added benefit of being targeted with effects, and having them wasted. This should even hit through hand traps as well.
  • Gandora Giga Rays Dragon of Destruction: Could Gandora Stromberg be a new thing? The Golden Castle of Stromberg notoriously banishes 10 cards per turn, allowing this to be a 3000 attacker right away. In any event, Gandora packages could be present in other decks, thanks to this nuke.
  • Curse Necrofear: This retrained Dark Necrofear acts in duality, as you just recycle the 3 monsters you banished for Dark Necrofear to get this card on the field. This card doesn’t steal monsters like the original, but this basically can resurrect itself out of the GY every turn, and pop cards on the field. This is a great control ability with synergy on field spells or continuous stuff. This probably is good enough to be a standalone deck in Duel Links.
  • Psychic Megacyber: This is pretty much an automatic special summon when going second. The effect is a bit situational, but Psychic Shockwave does exist. Now Jinzo packages could be a thing as well.
  • Qliphort Carrier: Notably, the Qliphort Pendulum Effects are drawbacks, as you’ll be restricting your Extra Deck play significantly. It is possible these guys just focus on their own archetype entirely. This card basically comes with a tributed ability of returning 1 monster on the field back to the hand, which could be handy to return monsters that have higher than Level 9.
  • Qliphort Scout: This card basically comes with an added bonus of allowing you to tutor any “Qli” card from the deck at a cost of 800 LP, which is a pretty good trade.
  • Diabound Kernel: This is an odd card. A level 5 Fiend, who permanently gains 600 attack when attacking. This has a quick effect like World Legacy Clash, where you debuff the enemy monster and banish this one. Probably overpowered as normal summon, so this 1-tribute keeps it in check. Could be useful as an all-purpose fiend when you need it, but the fit there is limited.
  • Gravekeeper’s Commandant: GK decks aren’t back, but this basically lets you run Necrovalley with a quick tutor. Necrovalley + GK Commandant packages incoming.
  • Spirit Reaper: This can stall battle damage, but any target effect will destroy this card. Not that good at this state in Duel Links, with so many target effects.
  • Jinzo – Layered: Natural Rank 6 Xyz Summon with Jinzo + Psychic Megacyber. This guy steals monsters, so you can basically use them to tribute summon another Level 6 monster. This monster lets you tribute that monster for control, which is pretty good control and board clear.
  • Amazoness Village: Even with the restrictions taken off of Amazoness, this field spell likely doesn’t do enough to get Amazoness into the meta.
  • Pot of Riches: This is a +1 in card advantage, and the cards that use recycle can help you reroll into Pendulum monsters in the hand, for a big turn. This is a card you probably don’t want to run 3 of in a Pendulum deck, but seems like a necessary filler in any Pendulum deck.
  • Echo Oscillation: This is another card you would use to gain card advantage in a Pendulum deck, but works differently. You don’t have to wait for the 3 monsters, but at the same time, you would be deplenishing your Pendulum Scales.
